Declarations is an ongoing artistic research project that looks into the poetic materiality of the CSS web-language. The project is initiated by graphic designer Doriane Timmermans, a member of the collective Open Source Publishing.

Doriane invited a group of artists, writers, amateurs, designers and hackers to came together for a week to inspect a shift in design practices emerging from the nature of the web.

The results of this worksession, the first of this research, are presented as an installation in Constant’s window.

To start 2024, Constant celebrates the publication of the manual 'How to Cypher Sex: A Manual for Collective Digital Self-Defense Guides'. Constant supported the collective Cypher Sex in the making of this "how to" manual that will lay out strategies on how to write locally-oriented digital self-defense guides aimed at empowering LGBTQ* people, women, and sex workers. Cypher Sex is a queer feminist collective aimed at empowering LGBTQ* people, women, and sex workers in their use of online services and digital tools through workshops, guides, and personalized consultancies. Constant happily invited Oddd to design this window installation.

Constant invites you to a moment of sharing and thinking together. We will discuss practices that arose during a collective research week around Techno-disobedience that was organised in collaboration with esc medien kunst labor in Graz, Austria in October 2023. Generations after the eruption of the Volcano, three communities meet around the discovery of a mysterious mineral: the Dust. Essential source of energy, sacred healing powers, geological warning, what messages and hopes does the Dust carry? When different belief systems meet, how to find a common ground? How will their encounter shape the world of tomorrow?

In the installation in the window of Constant, Hackers & Designers show traces of the workshop Age of Dust which took place in Brussels on 15,16 and 17 September.
